Group Exercises

No matter what your style, the Fayette County Family YMCA has a group exercise class for you.

Our classes are offered early morning for early risers and into the evening for those who need to burn off steam from a long day. Our instructors are certified professionals who have your healthy interests at heart and will offer a variety of difficulty levels and skills in each class.

Group Exercise Sessions

All group exercise classes are FREE with your Membership with the exception of Group Cycling and TRX classes.

 

Group Cycling- purchase 7 tokens for $10, 15 tokens for $20, or pay a $2 drop-in fee for each class if space allows. Each class will be first come, first serve.  You must turn in your token at the front desk to receive your bike seat.

*Non-member is still required to pay daily visit fee ($5.00 youth or $7.00 adult) + class drop-in fee

 

TRX- $10 per class day/time per seven week session or pay a $2 drop-in fee for each class if space allows.

GROUP FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Aquatics:

Best Of Both Worlds: Cardio & Sculpt

CARDIO CIRCUIT CLASS: 

The Cardio Circuit class is for those that are serious about wanting to lose weight and tone up those muscles that have gone a little flabby over the years.  We have a variety of different exercises that are geared toward strengthening your core, upper & lower body, as well as make you burn a ton of calories.  Come join the fun of a true exercise experience.

Group X-101:

This class is basic exercising.  It will include simple dance, basic step, and uncomplicated toning exercises.   This class is designed for beginners and experienced exercisers who just want a good and simple workout.

Cardio Circuit Drills: 

Combination of high energy aerobic training while using body weight and free weights. This class will target upper. lower body, abs along with a great cardio workout. Class forma will resemble an obstacle course. 

Caveman Circuit Training: 

A multiple station circuit class using non-traditional implements to produce increased strength, increased muscular endurance and substantial calorie all in one 45 minute period of time.

You must have an established fitness base to participate in this class. Stations will consist of tire flipping, sledgehammer striking, kettle bell exercises, sandbag work etc.

CAVEMAN EXPRESS:

The best of the caveman circuit training just a shorter version with fewer stations. 

Cardio

Y-Cycling:  

Indoor group cycling for the Beginner /Intermediate /Advanced. A fee based group exercise class that features an energetic, instructor-led, cycling class designed to challenge you with a cardio workout. This class is designed for beginners and advanced alike because you set your own pace. You will run, sprint, jump, and climb your way to a healthier you. You will get a heart pounding yet low-impact workout, regardless of your fitness level, while maintaining the ability to go at your own pace.

ZUMBA: 

Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you have ZUMBA! The goals of the class are simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked. Zumba Fanatics achieve long term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exhilarating hour of caloric-burning, heart-racing, muscle-pumping, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!

 

Dance

DANCING AT THE Y: 

A fun and energized dance workout to music from oldies to today’s best tunes- all participants welcome to feel the benefit of movement for entire body reaching into your inner soul.

Funergy: 

Come join the Dance Party! This exciting and fun cardio class is designated for 6 to 10 year olds to help them get a jump start on a healthy lifestyle. Classes will get their hearts pumping and their bodies rocking! Funergy dancing incorporates moves like the Cha-Cha, Salsa, and the Meringue. Funergy will help develop leadership, respect, pride, and confidence, in a fun and exciting environment! Funergy puts the Fun back in Exercise!

FunctionaL Fitness 

BODYWORKS: 

The Bodyworks class is a 50 minute class of simple exercises that promotes proper function of the human body as it was designed. Bodyworks class uses non-traditional exercises that are passive in nature to work the body head to toe. These non-traditional exercises promote the body’s return to proper function and the alleviation of pain. A variety of methods are used to promote results (i.e. gravity, “bodyweight”, body position, applied resistance). 

SilverSneakers® I – Muscular Strength & Range of Movement (MSROM): 

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles,

and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

 

SilverSneakers® - Cardio Circuit: 

Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

 

Mind/Body /Spirit 

ACTIVE YOGA: 

Active Yoga is yoga for the traditional fitness enthusiast. It is an hour-long class that can be best described as strength, flexibility, with a dash of relaxation.  Receive all the benefits of yoga without the chanting and meditation. Whether you are new to exercise or an experienced exerciser, Active Yoga will provide a fun, but effective workout. Think you are not flexible enough and can’t do Yoga? Even the most in-flexible person can benefit from Active Yoga. Remember it is yoga practice not necessary yoga do!

 

YOGA: 

For students new to yoga or- those looking for a gentle class to reduce tension. Learn breath and body awareness, optimal posture and body mechanics. Focus on correct positioning to strengthen lower back, abdominal muscles, legs and upper body. Students experience the meditative benefits of yoga through linking of breathe with movement. This class promotes balance, flexibility, and stress reduction.

 

Strength & Tone: 

 

TRX Circuit Training 

Type: Strength/Circuit Class 

Circuit Training is the most popular TRX class, challenging users with a fast-paced workout that combines TRX strength exercises with cardio drills. Timed sets will keep your heart rate pumping as you power through the reps at your own pace.

Level: All levels welcome

Duration: 55 minutes

 

TRX Body Blast 

Type: Strength/Endurance Class 

Build overall strength and endurance with this highly efficient Suspension Training program. Body Blast is a strength focused class, which is based on reps, tempo and form. Body Blast engages all your muscles with this non-stop TRX workout. Build overall strength, balance and flexibility with this total-body program. Body Blast is a non-stop workout set to music, where you spend the entire time using the TRX.

Pilates

Pilates dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels, and performs.  It builds strength without excess bulk, creating sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen. Come join us and get the results you want.
