Our Purpose:

The Association, in harmony with the YMCA national purpose, perceives itself as a Christian fellowship dedicated to improving the quality of life through programs and services which provide opportunities for people to reach their highest potential, develop a positive attitude of self and others, appreciate good health and fitness, acquire a value system and maintain spiritual awareness that manifests itself in our daily lives.

Our Values:

The YMCA is committed to putting Christian principles into practice. YMCA programs, activities and relationships teach and model Judeo-Christian values in order to strengthen kids, families and communities. Caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, faith are core values evident in all that we do.

2009-2012 Strategic Plan:

Priority Goal 1          Support and strengthen families with the YMCA as a safe and fun community destination.

*The YMCA will obtain a 13-month retention rate of 73%.

*The YMCA will serve 1,250 membership units.

*35% of Fayette County Family YMCA members will have referred a friend to the YMCA.

*The YMCA offers three marquee community family events that serve at least 1,000 people each year.

*The YMCA campus expands to include ball fields, day camp facilities, trail, and playground.

*Serve 250 youth ages 12-17 annually through leadership programs, recreational opportunities, and activities.

*Serve as catalyst in facilitating faith based initiatives in addressing community issues.

*YMCA facilities and schedules are convenient and designed to encourage utilization by families during “prime time” hours.

 

Priority Goal 2          Lead and support efforts which promote community health and well being.

*Recognizing that childhood obesity and lack of physical activity are significant community issues 700 Youth will be served in youth fitness/wellness initiatives each year (Water safety, after school recreation/C.A.T.C.H., Trim Kids, etc.)

*Community wellness initiatives are implemented that serve at least 1,000 people across all age groups each year.

*Provide a supportive environment with a focus on health seekers and resources to foster stronger relationships.

          -A Wellness Coach is assigned to all new members and carry out a written 30 day plan.

 

Priority Goal 3          Expand our financial resources, insuring financial viability and creating opportunities for the community to participate in supporting our charitable work.

*25% of YMCA membership units with an adult in the household contribute to the Strong Kids Campaign.

*Strong Kids Campaign contributions increase 5% per year, with $47,000 in contributions by 2012.

*A YMCA endowment is established with at least four Heritage Club Members.

*Contributions/pledges for the capital debt are sufficient to ensure full payment of loan.

*Sufficiently fund depreciation from operating revenues.

The YMCA and it’s Partners will lead the way in creating communities that are empowered, enabled and inspired to assure that every child grows up with a healthy spirit, mind and body.  We will do this by: 

  • Strengthening the relationship between children, their parents and other caring adults.
  • Ensuring that all children and families have access to  diverse and quality programs and activities.
  • Helping all adults become better role models by growing healthier in spirit, mind and body.
  • Bringing individuals, groups, organizations and neighborhoods together to form communities that supports the success of all children.
